Directions
The University of California, Santa Barbara is located approximately 2 hours north of Los Angeles on the 101 Freeway. It is located in Goleta, CA, which is about a 15 minute drive from downtown Santa Barbara, off the 101 freeway.
There are several ways to get there from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the most convenient of which are either the bus or rental car. It is not recommended that you take a taxi or the railway, as they are either exorbitantly expensive and/or time-consuming.
By Car (From LAX):
Traveling north on Highway 101:
Take the Airport/UCSB exit (Highway 217) off U.S. 101 approximately eight miles north of Santa Barbara to the campus East Gate.
Traveling south on Highway 101:
Take the Storke Road/Glen Annie Road exit off U.S. 101 approximately twelve miles north of Santa Barbara. Turn right on Storke Road and proceed two miles to El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road and proceed to the campus West Gate entrance.
By Bus
The Santa Barbara Airbus will take you directly from LAX airport to Goleta. From there, you will have to either call a taxi or hotel shuttle to your accomodations. The airbus provides several daily bus trips from the Los Angeles International Airport to Santa Barbara. You can make reservations and buy tickets by phone or on the web; Phone:

Symposium Location
The symposium will be in Centennial House. Centennial House is Building 530 at the southern point of campus, across from Santa Cruz dorm, next to University House and near the lagoon. Please consult the map below (Click on the thumbnail for a larger view).
UCSB General Parking Information
Visitors must purchase a parking permit when visiting the campus on weekends, for $2 per weekend day. They are available at various pay points in each parking lot, payable with cash or credit card. Please remember your parking space number BEFORE heading to the machine. And display your permit inthe lower driver's side corner of the front windshield. Metered parking is also available for 25 cents/10 min. with a max of 60 minutes.
