The Project

This website is my contribution to Winter 2002 edition of the Literature and Culture of Information web-based Magazine.

Literature and the Culture of Information (LCI) functions as a specialization within the English major at UCSB. This new specialization grew out of a larger academic construct called The Transcriptions Project. This “web-zine” serves as a place within Transcriptions where undergraduate students like myself can conduct independent research projects and publish the results.

My research project for the Winter 2002 quarter is focused on communities that form in cyberspace and the services (such as DelphiForums) that emerge to support such communities. For this project I conducted a study of The Warren Ellis Forum, one of the most populated communities within the DelphiForums service.
